Newton, NC (December 21, 2018) – Police responded to a truck accident on Wednesday that left one person dead on US 321 Business. The person has since been identified.
Police say that 36-year-old Rocky Brett Hilton, the driver of a Ford Mustang, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. At the time, police claim that a truck had been traveling south on Southwest Boulevard when it was struck in the front by the Mustang. The Mustang had crossed over the center line.
The Mustang flew front after the impact, which caused it to leave the road to the right before it came to rest in a forest area. The driver of the tractor-trailer was identified as 55-year-old Tommy Ray Madron, who was transported to the hospital with a variety of injuries.
At this time, the investigation into the accident continues. The roadway was closed for about five hours while police cleaned up and investigated.
