Oconee County, SC (November 24, 2018) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol was called to the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on Houston Rice Road Friday, November 23.
At this time, troopers say that the pedestrian was struck and killed at the scene but the driver allegedly fled the scene. Police also stated that the vehicle’s make and model is not known at this time, but that it probably has damage to the front of the vehicle.
The man, whose name has not yet been released, was described as a 94-year-old male who was injured in a hit-and-run. The man had been visiting his wife, who is a patient at the Seneca Health and Rehabilitation and must have been walking home at the time. When police found him about an hour after the accident, he was completely unresponsive.
The autopsy performed says that he received serious internal injuries that support him being struck by a vehicle. Officials are still investigating at this time.
