Oconee, SC (November 25, 2018) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol has identified the elderly man killed in a hit-and-run crash.

Oconee, SC (November 25, 2018) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol has identified the elderly man killed in a hit-and-run crash earlier this month.

According to authorities, 94-year-old Dale Howard Showers was walking on Houston Rice Road on November 14th.  While he was walking, Showers was struck by a vehicle and was later found unresponsive at approximately 6:50 pm.

He was rushed to the hospital where died from serious internal injuries on November 21st.  Police identified him as the victim of the crash on Friday, November 23rd.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of the investigation.  Police are looking for a vehicle with heavy front-end damage, but there is no description of the vehicle at this time.

We would like to offer our condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Dale Showers, who tragically lost his life in this fatal pedestrian accident.  We offer them strength and courage as they begin that absorb this incredible loss.  Our hearts go out to them.
