Oxford, NC (November 14, 2018) – In Oxford, one person was killed in a series of multiple crashes that happened this afternoon, November 14, on Interstate 85.
The accident that took one life happened around 4:36 this afternoon when an SUV was involved in an accident involving fast speeds. Their vehicle struck a guardrail, where it overturned and ejected the driver. The driver of the SUV was not identified; however, police say that they died at the scene of the accident.
Within the same hour, a crash involving two vehicles happened in the same area and caused life-threatening injuries to one person. One of the vehicles overturned. Moments later, a three-car accident happened in the northbound lanes of the highway, causing several people to be taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It was a dangerous night for those on Interstate 85.
The cause of the fatal crash has not yet been determined and police continue to investigate at this time.
