Pender County, NC (December 5, 2018) – Two drivers were killed in a head-on collision that took place in Pender County, according to officials with the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at 5:11 p.m. near the intersection with Fred White Drive. At the time, 62-year-old Jesus Berrones was traveling north in his Toyota when he suddenly crossed the center line, striking a Chevy SUV driven by Arnold Murphy Jr. of Burgaw.
Both men were immediately taken to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center and both passed away due to the severity of their injuries.
Nobody else was injured in the crash. Speed and alcohol were not factors considered in the crash. Police continue to investigate at this time.
