Pink Hill, NC (November 2, 2018) – On Thursday afternoon, November 1, a Pink Hill resident lost their life in a pedestrian accident after being struck by a vehicle on NC-11.
The accident happened yesterday around 2 p.m. Police have identified the pedestrian as James Lynwood McCandless Jr., who was struck in the area of the Highway 55 restaurant. He had been walking northbound at the time when he was suddenly struck by a vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Wilbur Pierce Mintz III. Charges are not yet being filed at this time.
The 52-year-old died at the scene of the accident.
