Raleigh, NC – Man Identified in Fatal Pedestrian Accident Last Night

Raleigh, NC (October 24, 2018) – Police say that, last night (October 23), a 60-year-old man lost his life in.

Raleigh, NC (October 24, 2018) – Police say that, last night (October 23), a 60-year-old man lost his life in a fatal pedestrian accident when he was struck by a vehicle. He passed away due to his injuries.

Police responded to the scene of the accident, where the man had been crossing the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard only a few blocks from his home. He was identified as James Harris.

Harris had been crossing the road by the intersection of South East Street around 11 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle being driven by 45-year-old Rose Hockett of Madison Ridge Way. Hockett was taken to the police station and charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle. She had been speeding at the time of the incident.

A police report said that Harris was in the crosswalk when he was struck by the vehicle. He was quickly rushed to the hospital where he then succumbed to his injuries.
