Raleigh, NC (November 8, 2018) – In Raleigh, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol were called to the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident on Wednesday night, November 7.

The accident happened around 7:50 p.m. on Interstate 540 East near the Leesville Road. The woman was identified as 58-year-old Melinda Scott.

Scott had been traveling to Raleigh to visit her daughter. She got into the first accident when she sideswiped another vehicle. Immediately following that accident, she got out of her vehicle and walked across the highway. This is when she was struck by another vehicle.

The driver who struck her was identified as 57-year-old Jerome Waller. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time. Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
