Randolph County, NC (December 18, 2018) – This morning, one person lost their life after they were involved in a pedestrian crash on Interstate 85 in Randolph County after an earlier accident.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigated and found that the pedestrian had been standing next to their vehicle assessing damage from a prior crash at the time. A driver in a Chevy Impala had been traveling north when they sideswiped a tractor-trailer. The man then pulled over the Impala into the left and middle lanes.
The driver and passenger got out of the vehicle to assess the damage. However, in doing so, they were basically invisible, as they did not have their lights on. Another vehicle came through the area and struck one of them.
The person who was struck was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident. The other person had minor injuries.
At this time, police are still fully investigating the crash.
We understand just how difficult it is to face the death of a loved one, especially when the accident happens unexpectedly. We would like to take this time to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the party who lost their life in this horrific accident.
