Richland County, SC (October 18, 2018) – Police say that three men were suspected of shoplifting, and then led Richland.

Richland County, SC (October 18, 2018) – Police say that three men were suspected of shoplifting, and then led Richland County deputies on a chase that led to a car accident.

The incident started on 8:30 p.m. Saturday night, October 13. The police were patrolling the Village at Sandhills when they noticed there was a suspicious car in the area without tags in front of a department store.

Deputies tried to stop the vehicle down the road, but the vehicle drove off and struck a deputy’s vehicle.

Two people were taken to the hospital when airbags were deployed in the accident. One person is still in the hospital due to their injuries. The deputy who was injured is still making a recovery but is expected to be okay.

Three people have received charges and have been identified as Jonathan Branham, Christopher Reeder, and Jonah Furqan.
