Rock Hill, SC – Victim Identified After Fatal Dump Truck Crash on I-77

Rock Hill, SC (November 6, 2018) – Police say that multiple lanes of the highway were closed down on Interstate.

Rock Hill, SC (November 6, 2018) – Police say that multiple lanes of the highway were closed down on Interstate 77 due to a multi-vehicle crash that took one person’s life. The accident happened today, November 6.

Police say that the driver of a dump truck died in a collision in the southbound lanes of I-77 around 10:45 a.m. The driver of the dump truck was identified as 71-year-old Dave Beverlin of Fort Mill.

Investigators at the scene said that the accident took place when the driver of the tractor-trailer slowed down to pull into the median, which is when a Jeep also slowed down. Beverlin then struck the two vehicles, ran off the road, and crashed into some trees.  It is not clear if anyone else suffered injuries in this accident.

Traffic in two lanes was blocked for more than an hour after the accident took place. At this time, the South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
