Rockingham County, NC (October 20, 2018) – Friday, shortly before 8:00 PM on Highway 29 a North Carolina Deputy struck.

Rockingham County, NC (October 20, 2018) – Friday, shortly before 8:00 PM on Highway 29 a North Carolina Deputy struck and killed a teenage pedestrian.

Deputy Landon Pulliam was driving his patrol car responding to a call when the tragic accident occurred. The victim, Nicholas Masters, 19, of Concord was hit by the on-duty patrol car while he was walking south in the righthand lane of the highway. Masters was wearing blue jeans, a dark vest, a white shirt, and a black backpack. It has been confirmed that that part of the roadway has no lighting on it.

Masters died at the scene. His toxicology results and a download of the event data recorder in the Deputy’s car are both pending.
