Rocky Mount, NC (November 28, 2018) – In Rocky Mount, two crew members on a cruise ship suffered serious burns and had to be flown to safety by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Police say that the accident took place on Monday, November 26, when two members were severely burned aboard the Norwegian Escape. The ship was approximately 24 miles from the North Carolina coast at the time of the incident, which happened around 4:00 p.m.
The two men were flown to safety and were identified as two men in their 20s who suffered second-degree burns as a result of the incident. Their injuries involved swelling and possibly damage to the deep layers of their skin. They are expected to recover.
Police continue to investigate how the accident took place.
