Rome Chapel, NC (November 27, 2018) – Police responded to a head-on collision this morning, November 27, in the area.

Rome Chapel, NC (November 27, 2018) – Police responded to a head-on collision this morning, November 27, in the area of Crossroad Road in Rome Chapel that led to injuries.

The accident closed down the stretch of highway between Crossroads Rd and Tram Road. The accident involved a feed truck, which collided head-on with a GMC SUV and then turned over. The driver was identified as a man in his 40s and was pinned inside the SUV for quite some time until he could be rescued.

The black SUV was knocked back across the road and into a ditch and was on fire for quite some time. A bus driver in the area noticed the collision and stopped to render aid to those involved. When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found that there was a fire and so they worked to put out the fire and help the driver trapped inside the vehicle. He was immediately taken to the hospital after he was freed from the wreckage.
