Salisbury, NC (November 15, 2018) – In Salisbury, a pedestrian accident took place that took the life of a woman.

Salisbury, NC (November 15, 2018) – In Salisbury, a pedestrian accident took place that took the life of a woman who was local in the area while she was checking her mail. The woman was identified as 34-year-old Sonya Dalton, a mother.

The accident happened on Tuesday evening, November 13, on Airport Road. The driver was identified as 29-year-old Tasheka Barnes, who was impaired at the time that she lost control of her vehicle, crossed the road and struck Dalton.

Troopers noticed that the driver was impaired right away and immediately gave her sobriety tests, which she failed. Barnes was charged with DWI, but it is believed that more charges are coming.

Police continue to investigate this serious accident.
