Rollover Accident in Sandy Springs

Sandy Springs, GA – (August 13, 2018) – An early morning rollover on I-285 caused major delays in traffic. The accident occurred at the Peachtree Dunwoody Rd exit along the inner loop, blocking the right three lanes of I-285 eastbound.

The number of individuals involved and the extent of their injuries has not yet been released. Paramedics were on the scene to administer care, and our thoughts and prayer are with those impacted by this event.

Accidents involving rollover vehicles are devastating and often fatal. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 21% of vehicle accidents involve rollovers and 35% of these accidents involve fatalities.

Wearing seatbelts properly is an effective measure for reducing the risk of death in an automobile accident. Of all fatalities reported in rollovers, 69% of the victims were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. Although seatbelt usage reached 90.1% in 2016, there are still many drivers that do not use them while out on the road. If all drivers and passengers used seat belts while in motion, there would be far fewer car accidental related fatalities across the United States.
