Savannah, GA (December 6, 2018) – Yesterday, we reported on a bus accident that took place involving 56 elementary students, and now we have updates on the accident.
The children were from Gould Elementary School. The accident took place on Salt Creek Road and Pineland Drive. The bus crashed when it was less than two miles away from the school.
One parent on-scene at the crash said that it was a traumatizing experience for all of the students, who parents heard moaning and crying on the bus. An SUV struck the bus at the scene of the accident, though police have not yet determined who is at fault. The collision caused the car to overturn but the occupants are expected to recover. Multiple people received bruises in the accident.
The SUV was left mangled in a ditch beyond recognition. One woman inside the SUV, identified as the female driver, was entrapped in the vehicle and had to be cut out. She received extensive leg injuries.
The 56 students were transported home via another bus. At this time, police continue to investigate the accident.
