Silver Creek, GA (December 27, 2018) – On Christmas Day, one person was involved in a fatal accident on GA-101. The identity of the individual has now been released.

64-year-old Billy Joe Rittenhouse died of blunt force trauma, according to the Coroner who arrived at the scene. Rittenhouse had been driving a pickup truck on Christmas Day when he was involved in an accident on Rockmart Highway.

The accident took place around 10:30 a.m. just north of Windmill Drive, which closed the road for about an hour. Rittenhouse was immediately taken to the Floyd Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased due to his severe injuries.

Police say that the crash is still being investigated at this time.
