South Fulton, GA (November 12, 2018) – On Sunday, November 11, three people lost their lives in a serious fatal accident in Georgia off of Interstate 85. Police responded to the area to find that the accident involved a South Fulton Police officer and a work van.
The accident took place at 11 p.m. last night. Three people in the van were killed in the serious accident. Three others who were passengers in the van were taken to the Grady Memorial Hospital. The police officer, identified as 27-year-old Deontae Walker, was also injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. His condition is not known at this time.
At the time, the police were in pursuit of a stolen Mercedes in the area with multiple occupants inside. Officer Walker had been traveling eastbound going through the intersection when the work van with six occupants entered into the intersection making a left turn, which caused it to collide with the police car. The patrol vehicle struck the left side of the van, which caused it to overturn and catch fire.
Walker was able to escape his vehicle but received injuries. At this time, police continue to investigate the incident and work on identifying the occupants who have been injured.
