South Mills, NC (November 28, 2018) – Two people lost their lives in a fatal crash that took place in Camden County this past week, according to police, and they have now been identified.

The crash happened on U.S. 17 in South Mills around 11:30 a.m. and involved two vehicles. Police say that 70-year-old Carol Smith was turning onto 17 South from US 17 when she collided with another vehicle. Smith had a passenger in her vehicle, identified as 46-year-old Lillie Stewart Smith. Both of those in the vehicle tragically passed away at the scene.

There were also two other passengers in the vehicle, identified as a 46-year-old and a 13-year-old, who were both injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. They are expected to recover.

Many people spoke with police and said that they are familiar with the area and that many accidents take place in this area every year.
