Spartanburg, SC (November 29, 2018) – Early this morning, police responded to the scene of a fatal moped accident on Goldmine Road around 6:13 in the morning. Police say that the driver tragically passed away due to their injuries at the hospital.
At the time of the incident, the driver of the moped was headed west when a deer suddenly ran out in the road, which caused the moped driver to swerve. The rider struck the deer and was involved in an accident that took their life.
The injured party was quickly taken to the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center but died due to his injuries. The party was identified as a 52-year-old whose name was not released.
The moped rider did not have a helmet at the time. Police are working on their investigation of the accident.
