Spartanburg, SC (December 16, 2018) – A car crash that took place near Main Street and River View Drive around 9:00 on Sunday morning has claimed the life of 49-year-old Anthony Bernard Beasley of Gaffney, according to the local coroner’s report.
The Spartanburg Police took statements from various witnesses that all claimed that cars appeared to be racing on East Main Street just minutes before the tragic crash occurred. First responders to the scene said that a vehicle was overturned in the roadway in close proximity to the Fresh Market store. The accident caused the closure of Main Street for a brief period of time but it has since been reopened for normal use. Medical reports from the coroner indicate that Beasley died of massive head trauma and the coroner’s office is currently awaiting the results of a blood toxicology report that tests for drugs and alcohol.
The Spartanburg Police Department is currently still investigating the cause of this crash.
