Thomasville, SC (December 12, 2018) – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said that one driver was airlifted following a serious accident yesterday morning on Interstate 85. Police said that bad weather conditions on the road caused the driver to become involved in an accident with another vehicle. Nobody else was injured in the accident.
The driver had been traveling northbound on the highway at the time when they suddenly sideswiped a pickup truck and veered over onto the median, striking a tree. The accident took place near the area of Lake Road.
AirCare was called to the scene by emergency responders, who took the patient to the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. The driver received serious injuries and their condition is not known at this time.
The driver had been traveling at speeds that were too dangerous for the road conditions. Police continue their investigation of the accident at this time.
