Union County, NC (November 7, 2018) – Police reported that two Union County deputies were rushed to the hospital following a police car accident involving a tractor-trailer. The accident took place early this morning, November 7.

A driver had been traveling north on US 601 around 4:45 a.m. and tried to pass several vehicles near a curve. The driver ended up ramming into the cruiser, which caused it to veer into the path of an 18-wheeler truck.

The cruiser and the tractor-trailer collided but, luckily, everyone involved is expected to survive despite their injuries. The deputies will only be out of work for a couple of days.

Witnesses at the scene said that there are many people who speed in this area all the time and that slowing down could help prevent these accidents. The driver who caused the crash will be facing various charges.

Our thoughts are with all of the injured parties who were involved in this accident.  We hope that they are able to make full recoveries and resume their normal lives as soon as possible.
