Union County, NC (December 3, 2018) – Yesterday afternoon, December 2, a woman was ejected from her vehicle and killed.

Union County, NC (December 3, 2018) – Yesterday afternoon, December 2, a woman was ejected from her vehicle and killed in a tragic and fatal accident that led to road closures.

The crash took place in the 7000 block of Potter Road near the area of Lawn Drive. The victim, since identified as 77-year-old Shirley Barnes, was involved in an accident and struck a mailbox, a tree, and a stone wall.

Barnes was ejected from her vehicle after the crash. The accident happened close to where Barnes lived, and police are still investigating the accident in full. Barnes lost her life at the scene of the accident.

Nobody else was injured as a result of this accident. The North Carolina State Highway is currently working on their investigation.
