Whitfield County, GA (October 24, 2018) – In Whitfield County, a Florida man was killed in an Interstate 75 accident.

Whitfield County, GA (October 24, 2018) – In Whitfield County, a Florida man was killed in an Interstate 75 accident that took place on Tuesday, October 23 around 8:30 a.m.

The Georgia State Patrol says that a man from Jacksonville was killed when a driver lost control of his vehicle and veered into the emergency lane. The woman behind the wheel was arrested for vehicular homicide immediately following the accident.

The driver of the other vehicle has been identified as Ontaya Brooks of Missouri. The pedestrian she struck was identified as Denton Edmond, who was standing behind his semi-truck. Edmond had been standing alongside his truck because one of the tires on the vehicle blew out, causing him to pull over and check it.

Brooks is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel when she crossed over and struck Edmond. Police are currently investigating to determine exactly what caused the accident.
