Williamsburg County, SC (December 7, 2018) – Deputies are now searching for a driver after a man has been killed in a hit-and-run accident, according to police. Deputies say that the man had been missing before he was located on the side of the road.
Investigators identified the man as Charles Edward Holmes of Salters, who was found on Tuesday in a ditch along SC 261 and the Manning Highway. Deputies were able to find him based off of his last cell phone location.
When they took a closer look at his injuries, they realized that he had been struck by a vehicle based on his injuries. Holmes’ family was concerned about his whereabouts and got ahold of police, which is how they were able to locate him.
Police continue their investigation so that they can catch the responsible driver.
