Gates County, NC (October 29, 2018) – In Gates, a North Carolina man lost his life following a head-on collision.

Gates County, NC (October 29, 2018) – In Gates, a North Carolina man lost his life following a head-on collision on Saturday night, October 27. The man has since been identified by police.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the accident and found that 29-year-old Walter Kelly Jr. had been driving his Ford Mustang when he struck a deer around the area of Middle Swamp Road. The accident took place around 9:30 p.m. that night.

His car swerved into the other lane, which is where it collided head-on with a pickup truck. Police say that Kelly lost his life at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the other vehicle only sustained minor injuries and is expected to recover. The police involved in the case continue to investigate at this time.
