Marietta, GA (October 30, 2018) – Authorities say that a sheriff’s deputy was injured in a pedestrian accident while they were trying to stop two people who were attempting to break into a vehicle.

The deputy from Cobb County was struck yesterday morning, October 29, near the local courthouse. They were taken to the hospital with injuries and he is expected to recover at this time.

At the time, the deputy claimed that he had been monitoring security videos and saw that it looked like two people were trying to break into a parked vehicle. One person ran away when the deputy confronted the crew and the other one got back inside their vehicle. The person then drove forward and struck the deputy.

Police are still investigating the accident at this time.
