Gastonia, NC (December 7, 2018) – We previously reported on a bicycle accident in Gastonia that led to injuries in one person on Monday morning, and now they have been identified by police.

Police say that 60-year-old Kyle Longnecker was seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle near the entrance to the Piedmont Community Charter School. The crash happened around 8 a.m. on South New Hope Road. The bicyclist was unconscious but still breathing when he was taken to the hospital.

Longenecker was struck by a 17-year-old student who was turning into the school at the time. As of now, no charges have been filed in the accident.

Police reported that a red sedan was towed away from the scene. They continue to investigate at the time.
