Salisbury, NC – One Dead, Child Involved in Serious Car Accident

Salisbury, NC (November 8, 2018) – In Salisbury, one person lost their life and a four-day-old baby was rescued from.

Salisbury, NC (November 8, 2018) – In Salisbury, one person lost their life and a four-day-old baby was rescued from a serious accident yesterday, November 7.

The accident, according to police, happened on East Innes Street near the highway around lunchtime. At the time, the driver of a Chevy had been traveling west when he suddenly crossed the concrete and brick median and then struck an SUV head-on. The SUV crashed into another SUV.

The driver of the pickup truck died at the scene. He was identified as 94-year-old Joseph Bernard Krochmal. The father of the baby was treated at the scene. The four-day-old was given a bottle and treated.

East Innes was closed for almost an hour as crews worked at the scene. Police are still investigating at this time.

We are always saddened to learn about fatal accidents in our community, especially one that involves an infant.  We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Krochmal, who tragically lost his life in this accident.  We also hope that the other people and the tiny infant who were injured in this accident will be able to make full recoveries and get back to their day to day activities as soon as possible.
