Smithfield, NC (November 8, 2018) – On Tuesday afternoon, November 6, a day care van driver lost his life in.

Smithfield, NC (November 8, 2018) – On Tuesday afternoon, November 6, a day care van driver lost his life in a head-on collision that took place at the hands of a negligent driver. Yesterday, the man who caused the accident appeared in court for the first time.

The suspect was identified as 38-year-old Seth Tracy of Holly Springs, who is facing various charges such as felony death by motor vehicle and DWI.

The crash took place around 4 p.m. along Barber Mill Road. At the time, a Bizzy Bee Plumbing truck crossed the center line, striking a passenger van head-on. The van was from a daycare called Kids Country of Clayton.

One man witnessed the crash and called 911, saying that there were children in one of the vans. At the time, there were several elementary children on the bus and they sustained a variety of injuries. All of them are expected to be okay.

The woman who had been driving the van at the time was identified as 39-year-old Martha Darlene Peterson. She died at the scene of the accident.

At this time, police continue to investigate.
