Charlotte, NC (October 27, 2018) – Police arrived at the scene of an accident that happened in Charlotte on October 26. The pedestrian accident took place on Independence Boulevard.
A pedestrian was struck multiple times by various vehicles in the roadway and was killed due to the trauma he received as a result. The accident happened last night around 9 p.m.
Upon arrival to the scene, police said that the pedestrian was lying in the road and multiple vehicles had stopped to render aid. The pedestrian had been struck by the first vehicle when he tried to cross East Independence Boulevard. The vehicle had been traveling in the left lane and struck the pedestrian with the corner of the vehicle.
As a result, the pedestrian was sent sailing into the eastbound lanes of traffic, where he was struck by five vehicles. The first driver who pulled over called police and was also struck by a car passing through but was not injured.
The pedestrian died at the scene of the accident. Police said that there were no marked crosswalks in the area.
