Gaston, NC (November 28, 2018) – A fatal car accident took place in Gaston that took the life of one person and caused another person to be charged on Interstate 95. We previously reported on the accident but have now identified the party who died in this horrific accident.

59-year-old Sandy Griffin was killed after he swerved to miss a vehicle that was stopped in a southbound lane on  I-95 around 1 a.m. in the morning. The man driving that vehicle was identified as 34-year-old Nicholas Saadipour, who had just crashed his vehicle and was stopped on the road after the accident.

Griffin was not able to see the vehicle until the last minute, which caused him to veer off the road and overturn his vehicle. There were three other passengers in the vehicle that Griffin was in who escaped serious injury. Saadipour is now facing DWI, careless driving, and other charges.

The investigation continues at this time.
