Greenville, SC (December 13, 2018) – This morning around 1:14 a.m., the South Carolina Highway Patrol was called to the scene of a head-on collision where one person lost their life. The accident took place off of West Blue Ridge Drive.

At the time, a driver had been traveling in his Toyota traveling north on SC-253 when he suddenly crossed the center line for reasons that are not known. He struck a 2013 Ford and went off the side of the road, going down an embankment.

The vehicle struck several trees before it stopped. The driver and passenger in the Ford were injured but did not require transport to the hospital. They were both wearing seatbelts at the time.

However, the driver of the Toyota that rolled down the hill did not have a seatbelt on at the time and had to be extricated by emergency responders. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene but his name has not been released.

The tragic accident is still being investigated at this time.
